Family Photos

I have to share our latest family photo session. Blake was 15 months/12 months adjusted, and actually threw quite the fit the whole time the pics were being taken but Sheena Ranae Photography still managed to capture some amazing photos!
These are a few of my favorites!!!

Poor Baby!

The gut wrenching feeling of not being able to fix a hurt, to take away a sickness is one of the most heartbreaking feelings I've had as a new mother. The lack of control truly drives me crazy! We luckily haven't had to deal with much sickness since Blake came home last August from the NICU. I must say I think we deserve a lifetime of healthiness after having to endure the first 5 months of Blake's life. I feel we've paid our dues. However, just like all grass eating, mud playing, dirty little tots- sickness kind of comes with the territory.

Sunday night we began our week of sleep deprived sickness! Blake started out with a fountain of snot pouring out of his nose, followed shortly with no sleep, wheezing, difficulty breathing and ending in an admission to the Deaconess pediatric unit! (Our hospital free stretch came to an unwelcome end)

Blake was admitted to the hospital yesterday for a viral infection not improving with antibiotics and breathing treatments at home. Poor Blake was unable eat anything or drink yesterday- he just had no interest. His breathing was still fast and shallow, and he also was showing signs of dehydration with only one pee diaper for a whole day. My poor sick baby was definitely in need of some extra R&R to get back to his normal happy self.

Unfortunately, after an IV being placed for extra hydration, Blake did not get ANY rest- which meant the same for his already sleep deprived mommy and daddy. After 5 pee diapers and 16 ounces of fluid taken, and constantly screaming/crying for 8 hours straight at 2 am Blake decided he was the doctor and had concluded he had enough hydration so he took out his IV himself. I had the nurses call the doctor after they stuck him and were unable to get another IV and since he was drinking and peeing now they decided to give him a shot and leave it out. And then the greatest thing happened......he finally slept (and so did we!)!!!! It was miraculous! Blake did develop a viral rash that started at six last night and did get a little worse through the night but they said that it will go back to normal now that his fever has broke and his breathing is a little better. They trusted us to watch him and treat him ourselves and thought the less stress on him the better....so they sent us home after only one day! And boy are we glad to be home!

This was pre-iv when Blake was still somewhat happy even though he couldn't breathe.

Mommy and Blake playing with his new toy

Poor sick baby- you can see it in his eyes!

Blake was happy to be able to eat his fingers again after he pulled out his IV- we however were still super exhausted! It was 2:30am at this point...

No more IV and.......he is out!

This morning Blake was definitely feeling SO SO SO much better! And even ate a bit!

Happy camper to be coming home!

Gatlinburg Vacation.

This past weekend Zach, myself and Blake packed up- squeezed in- and prepared for a trip with 16 other members of Zachs family to Gatlinburg, TN. Four, what seemed short, days later we are home and I thought I would share some of my favorite photos from our trip.
The first night Blake passed out in daddy's arms...that 6 hour drive wore him out.

The second day we spent antiquing and then stopped by to watch our cousins ride the NASCAR track go-carts. Blake thought it was funny!

And even got to ride on an arcade motorcycle with daddy a little earlier in the night.

We then ate dinner at the apple barn and after some shopping, Blake was worn out!

The next day was our aquarium adventure. He passed out for the beginning but after a short nap was ready to explore and look at the fishies!

Then we headed to a Mexican restaurant where our whole family enjoyed lunch together.

Where Blake enjoyed some beans, taco meat and cheese dip himself!

The rest of the at consisted of more shopping (it was such a rainy day)and lots of puff eating.

But the best part of the whole vacation?! Blake finally said MOMMA! And it was probably my favorite noise ever.....at least for now!

One year later!

One year ago today, we said goodbye to the NICU-only to say hello to our home sweet home and introduce the world to our sweet little miracle baby, Blake!
So what has changed in the one year of being home?
Blake came home weighing 6lbs 6oz.

Blake is now weighing a little over 20lbs.

Blake came home measuring 19 inches.

Blake now measures at a whopping 30inches.

Blake had very little hair.

Blake now has more hair then his daddy!

Blake only smiled when he was gassy.

Now Blake smiles when he is gassy...and at all other times too!
Boy can't stop smiling!

Blake was introduced to his pup Aussie. Aussie was unsure of him but liked to be close! (As long as Blake didn't touch him he was fine!)

Now Aussie and Blake's relationship....well not all things change.

Things have changed so much in the year that we've been home! We've learned to roll...

And is getting into everything!!!!

We've learned to stand with assistance.

Blake got fitted for his helmet in January.

And Blake finally completed his cranial band therapy today!

We definitely have taken up much more room on our recliner!

My little manis getting bigger and bigger everyday! He surprises us everyday, and although the NICU time seemed to drag on, it seems this year home has flown by! Slow down baby! Mommas not ready for you to be SO BIG!
