6 months old.

October 12th, 2012

Yesterday our little boy turned the big 6 months!! I can not fathom how this time has flown by when while we were in the hospital it felt like time drug on and on...and on...and on...and on...and on....and, well, you get the point. But now our little boy is 1/2 a year old, I feel like I'm gonna blink and he will be 1, then blink again and he'll be 2, by the time I finish this post he will probably be 7. (Okay, okay I'm obviously exaggerating!) So back to the BIG 6 months... lil' man had his first physical therapy session yesterday, and I am happy to say it went GREAT!! Our developmental pediatric doctor, that saw Blake a few weeks ago, was slightly concerned about the tightness in his upper legs, and ankles and some stiffness in his neck, so he wanted therapy to start ASAP. So when the therapist came we were expecting the same, but Blake although stiff at first loosened up quickly and was happy and cooperative the whole hour session. Zach and I were both present for this session to learn to stretches, and exercises for him and we were nothing but PROUD! Blake smiled and was very playful the whole time. She said his neck control is that of a 5-6 month old so he is actually meeting around his actual age, and then his arm, legs, and reflexes were all that around a 3 month old which is still older than his adjusted age of 10 weeks!! She was very impressed and happy with everything he did with his movements and was very optimistic, which we appreciate! I personally love therapy days...selfishly I don't only like them for all the good it does for Blake, but also after therapy, Blake is so worn out, he knocks out for a good 3 hours!!! So THIS mommy can get some much needed zzzzzz's as well.

Blake is getting super big, I'm guessing he has to be over 10 lbs now, but we won't know until a doctors appointment on the 24th...which is a good ways away still. The last weight was from the 2nd of October and he was 9 lbs 8 ounces, and my lil' chunker has definitely gained a few more chins since then! Blake is still not sleeping through the night but has cut in down to only waking up about every 4-5 hours, and he is having LOTS more wake times! He is usually pretty happy, and surely doesn't hide his pretty heart melting smile from anyone these days!! Zach and I are everyday falling more in love with him, and the boy continues to wrap us tighter and tighter around our fingers. I'm sure this boy will want for nothing, which is okay to us!!

How can you not just melt to that picture.
 I'm a Big Boy now...little bigger than the once 1lb 1oz. Huh?!
These pictures don't do those baby blues justice.
He likes to pout...don't worry its all for show.
He isnt really sad...he would smile right after.

And on a HUGE note....our lil' man today at 6 months 1 day, or better yet 10 weeks adjusted age has been rolling away!! We have been working on it for quite some time, and now he seems to have it down!! He has accidently rolled from his belly to back a few times, which in turn scared the heck out of himself, but today multiple times has purposely been rolling from his belly to back and is attempting to roll from back to belly...he just hasn't got there yet! But I'm sure that is going to happen soon with the way he gets on his side...check out the video!!!! Zach and I are just TOO PROUD!

And as always on these special days...Happy 6 months to my beautiful boy Blake, but also to my angel baby Conor!! I love you both and couldn't be more proud to be your mommy!!

In 1988 Ronald Reagan made this happen stating,
"When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan.
When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower.
When parents lose their child, there isn't a word to describe them. This month recognizes the loss so many parents experience across the United States and around the world."

I personal know and have many friends who have had miscarriages, family members who have had stillborns and of course knowing what it feels like with the loss my sweet lil' angel baby Conor.
I want to make people aware. Too many people grieve in silence, as others do not know what to say, or do, or what NOT to say or not to do... but what I can say. I know what it is to be a mother and have to say goodbye to my child. Zach and I had to hold our baby and kiss him knowing it was going to be the last time. Zach and I share this with many mothers and fathers around the world and on October 15th I will be lighting a candle for one hour starting at 7pm not only for my sweet baby boy, but for all the mothers and fathers who have said goodbye to their baby boy or girl during or after birth...A wave of continuous light in memory of all those babies! I ask you to do the same, for the mommies and daddies that don't get to kiss their babies good night, lets all take one hour and honor these sweet babies! See the link above for more information!

Calling of an Angel

With the calling of an angel
My name was softly said.
It sounded near but yet so far,
Not one thing did I dread.

I have traveled far away
From earth and all its woe.
The calling of an angel
Is why I had to go.

To leave you for a little while
Is what I had to do.
But forever is the promise
God gave to me and you.

Carry no sorrow while I'm gone
Think of me in wait.
Ill be right here in heaven
As you enter through the gate.

So keep a smile inside your heart
When you think of me and then,
For it wont be long mom and dad,
That I'll be with you again!
